Music from this device, played here without being sent to the site. It’s kept in this browser only: your other devices and browsers don’t have it. You can also drop files or a folder here.
The browser may remove them when it runs short of room.
Tracker and game music
These files are also in Local Library. Settings → Tracker and game music sets how many times through, the fade-out and the sound.

Games
Your PC’s games, streamed by Moonlight Web Stream. A game opens in a tab of its own: only there can it go full screen and get keys like Esc and Alt+Tab.
The server sends LRCLIB the track’s artist, title, album and length (never who is listening) and keeps the answer. Everyone sees a note about this in Settings. Address:
Corrected lyrics are kept on this server and shown to everyone, before the file’s and LRCLIB’s. Each change is in the site log.
While someone fills in the form, their browser solves a small puzzle (usually well under a second; longer on a slow phone), and a field people never see must stay empty. Nobody has to do anything. This stops programs that send the form without running the page; a bot that runs a whole browser can still get through, and Approval above stops those.
A free key: sign in at developers.giphy.com, create an app of the API kind, and copy its key here. The server asks GIPHY for every search, so nobody’s address reaches GIPHY; GIPHY sees your server’s address and the words searched for. A GIF that is sent is copied to your server, so the message keeps it.
Voice and video
Video codecs
Each browser asks the other to send it the first codec of this list that both have (a phone or tablet first asks for the ones its device decodes in hardware). The order applies to calls and voice channels joined after saving.

Visualizer presets
Add MilkDrop presets (.milk files) to everyone’s visualizer. The server converts them; the shaders are then tried in this browser, and one that doesn’t work here is left out (the preset still runs, with a plainer look). Presets you add appear in the visualizer’s list marked “added”.
Users
Authors can publish posts and edit or delete their own. Admins block and unblock accounts, choose who may create chat servers and delete chat servers; superusers can do everything. Blocked (not active) accounts can’t log in. You can’t demote, block or delete yourself, and the site always keeps at least one active superuser.
Chat servers
Every chat server on this site. Deleting one removes all its channels, messages and emoji; its members see the reason.
Reported direct messages
Direct messages are encrypted; you see only messages someone reported, with the text they reported. The site checks that the text is what was actually sent. Block the sender in Users if needed.
Site log
What superusers and admins did: blocks, roles, approvals, deleted accounts and servers, site settings.

Modules (MOD, XM, S3M, IT and the other formats of libopenmpt)
Game music (NSF, SPC, GBS, VGM and the other formats of Game Music Emu)
These change how this browser renders tracker and game music, from the next track played. The tone doesn’t change SNES music (SPC), and the stereo echo doesn’t change SNES music or Sega Genesis music (GYM, and VGM files from the Genesis). FamiTracker modules are rendered by the server, so only the times through and the fade-out apply to them.
Appearance
Accent colour
When a cover has no clear colour (black and white, say) or there is no cover, the colour above is used.
Small: the track, play and pause, previous and next. Hidden: the music goes on, and the note button at the top brings the player back.
Lighter: no blur, glass or shadows (panels become plain), no animations, a background video shows its first frame, and the visualizer as the background draws at most 15 frames a second at 40 % resolution.
Background
Optimized uses a copy of the cover at most 1280 pixels wide (WebP), made once by the server. Original uses the picture from the file as it is, which can be several megabytes.
Picture
Video
The visualizer starts with your first click or key press and keeps the graphics card busy; if the computer gets warm, lower the frame rate or the resolution in the visualizer’s options (as the background it draws at most 30 frames a second and 60 % resolution).

Wiki
WaveBlog’s look: the server fetches the article, so it needs to reach Wikipedia, and on a private site only people with an account can read it. Wikipedia’s own page (as before v3.7): your browser opens Wikipedia itself in the tab, with Wikipedia’s look, menus and pictures.

Sound
On the graph: drag a point to change frequency and gain · mouse wheel or Shift + drag: Q · double-click: add a filter · Delete: remove the selected one. In the list, drag a number to move a filter.
Open or paste an Equalizer APO, AutoEQ or squig.link file: Preamp: -6.1 dB and lines like Filter 1: ON PK Fc 1000 Hz Gain -3.0 dB Q 1.41.

Order
The sound goes through the effects from left to right. Drag an effect to move it (or select it and use the arrow keys); the switch turns it on or off. The same control sits next to the EQ, FX and CF buttons in the player.
Reverb
Mix is the share of reverb in the sound. Decay is how long the reverb takes to die away (60 dB). Damping makes the tail darker; low cut keeps the bass out of the reverb. Long decays use more processing power.
Bitcrusher
Haas stereo
Delaying one channel by a few milliseconds widens the sound; it seems to come from the side that isn't delayed. Past about 30–40 ms it turns into an echo. Mono tracks become stereo. On a single speaker (mono) it can sound hollow.
Mono
Mixes the left and right channels into one and plays it on both: for a single ear-bud or speaker, or recordings with instruments on one side only. Where it sits in the order matters: put it after Haas stereo and the widening turns into a hollow, comb-like colour.
Tempo
Faster or slower, in the same key (the browser stretches the sound in time).
Speed
Faster and higher, or slower and lower, like a record played at another speed.
Key
Higher or lower at the same tempo (a semitone is one piano key; 100 cents make a semitone). This goes through a key shifter, which adds 32 ms of delay; big changes sound more processed.
Double-click a slider to reset it. The settings stay until you change them, from track to track.
Plays every track at the same perceived loudness. The server measures each track once (EBU R128, like ReplayGain 2) and remembers it; the next track is measured while the current one plays.
Target

Device
Stereo
Width 0 % is mono and 100 % is the recording as it is; above 100 % spreads it wider (what differs between the sides gets louder).
Headphone crossfeed
Mixes some of each side’s lower frequencies into the other side, a fraction of a millisecond later, the way each ear also hears the other speaker. Old stereo recordings with instruments on one side only become easier on headphones.
Compressor and limiter
The browser’s compressor raises the whole level again by part of what it takes off, so quiet passages come out louder (more so with a lower threshold).

LRCLIB (lrclib.net): lyrics for tracks without lyrics in their tags, when turned on by a superuser
On the server: Node.js, Express, PostgreSQL (pg), multer, bcryptjs, music-metadata and ffmpeg
The interface
Marks stand for what the page puts there: {1} a number or a name, <x1/> a button, an icon or a link. Keep each of them once, where it belongs in your language. The words between <t1> and </t1> are shown in their own style (bold, a link): translate them, and keep the marks around them.
